Lighthouses of Canada

Triangle Island

This magnificent structure that can be seen at the Sooke Museum was once in place on the top of Triangle Island, some 40 km from Cape Scott and one of the farthest points off the northwest tip of Vancouver Island. So remote was this location that it proved almost impossible to support the lighthouse and its keepers during the ten years after it was built around 1900. Since the light was also invariably obscured by fog, the decision was made to remove the structure.
